The next couple of months are going to be huge in the fight to protect young immigrants from deportation. On June 29, 2017 Texas’ Attorney General, Ken Paxton, along with other nine state attorneys general and the governor of Idaho, sent a letter to the Trump administration urging them to terminate the DACA program and all protections that shield Dreamers from deportation. Even Trump’s top immigration official even told Hispanic leaders in Congress to prepare for the worst in regards to the DACA program.
We’re not going to let DACA go down without a fight and that’s why we’re mounting an “all hands on deck” campaign to protect Dreamers from deportation and launching a new project we’re calling “DACA Dinners.” Through DACA Dinners undocumented youth and their allies will have an opportunity to break bread with their elected officials at all levels of government and discuss the importance of allowing Dreamers to work and drive legally in the United States.
By hosting a DACA dinner, you can show your community that these immigrant youth are just like any other young Americans and they deserve to purse their dreams here. We hope that you excited as we are about this project. Our hope is that this kind of dialogue leads to a wider discussion on why the Trump Administration should preserve the DACA program. If you’re planning to host your own DACA Dinner, please fill out this form and we’ll be in touch.
